BFA Board of Directors – Meeting Summary
Monday, November 10, 2025

The BFA Board of Directors would like to acknowledge the recent loss in our school community. The passing of one of our elementary students has deeply affected us all. Our hearts are with the family, classmates, and staff during this difficult time. We are sincerely grateful to our administration, teachers, counselors, and support staff for their compassion and care.

Construction Update & Open House:
Superintendent Tague reported steady progress on the construction project. While stair treads are delayed due to supply chain issues and a few small details remain, the school is looking great overall. The board agreed January would be an ideal time to host a community open house.

Act 73 Update:
Superintendent Tague shared that the Act 73 task force held its final meeting this week and will present its findings to the legislature in December. It remains unclear which recommendations, if any, will be adopted or how they might impact taxpayers.

District Quality Standards:
The Board reviewed results from the recent self-assessment survey, discussing where the board is beginning, approaching, proficient, or advanced in key areas. Topics included community engagement, goal-setting, and progress monitoring.

Unpaid Leave Request:
The Board approved an additional 22 days of unpaid leave for a middle school employee, extending her maternity leave.

HS Climate Action Club Overnight Field Trip:
The Board approved an overnight field trip for five high school students to attend the Youth Climate Leaders Academy in Fairlee, Vermont.

FY27 School Budget:
The Board reviewed a preliminary FY27 budget, which represents a level-services plan. The budget reflects a 7.3% increase in health insurance costs and accounts for ongoing negotiations with professional staff. The Board expects to have clearer information about tax implications in the coming meetings.

Board Vacancy:
The Board discussed the resignation of Jolie Frechette and expressed appreciation for her service. The vacancy will be filled by appointment until the March election. Community members interested in serving are invited to submit letters of interest by December 3.

Board Reorganization:
Following the vacancy, the Board reappointed members to fill open committee positions:

  • Mackenzie Geary – FWSU Board

  • Katie Haddock – Community Relations & Communications Committee

  • Emily Aiken – Library Committee
