Welcome to the FWSU Technology Institute!
This website gives our course an online home with all the needed
information about the course as well as links to various
resources we will be using throughout the week. This is our third year offering the institute and we have designed
elements to address the needs of returning partipants as well
as
new participants. The first level of the course is officially titled 21st Century Tools In Practice
and the second level is titled Leading 21st Century Tools In
Practice. Both courses share the same schedule and
workshops, but have different outcomes and products.
Dates: June 23-29, 2010 (class does not meet on Sat. June 26 or Sun. June 27)

- 4:00 Daily (light breakfast and lunch included)
One half-day follow-up session
in fall 2010. This session will be
scheduled at a later date and will occur before September 30, 2010.

Course Objectives:
(Both Courses)
- Participants will increase their level of proficiency and comfort with various technology tools that can be used to engage students, enhance instruction, and facilitate high-level thinking and creativity.
- Participants will understand the role of
technology in
society and the global economy of today and identify some of the skills
needed
by students to engage the world of tomorrow.
(First
Year)
- Participants will produce a lesson or student learning experience to use during the next school year that integrates technology and best practices within the teacher’s content area objectives.
(Second Year)
- Participants will be prepared to provide
leadership in
supporting school technology integration*
- Participants
will produce a tutorial, guide, or
example for using technology tools in conjunction with best practices
in
teaching.
* Second year participants will showcase a lesson or student learning experience that integrates technology during the week.
