Learning Center Databases and Resources for Students

Databases and Resources available within GEMS and from home with a password. Password information is available only to our GEMS students and staff.  Students may get password information from their teachers or from the library staff.

EBSCO - Searchasaurus-  Provides access to the full text of many children's magazines, an animal encyclopedia, and a general encyclopedia.  These resources also contain links to related web sites.

EBSCO - Kids Search - Great for both elementary and middle school students!  Allows students to search many different resources including magazines, newspapers, an animal encyclopedia, current events and an encyclopedia. "Top Searches" links to topics of high current interest.


Vermont Online Library - These new Gale Group online resources provide access to magazines, newspapers and reference books for students and teachers.

Kids InfoBits- Kids InfoBits meets the research needs of students in Kindergarten through Middle School. It features a visually graphic interface, subject-based topic tree search and full-text, age-appropriate, curriculum-related magazine, newspaper and reference content.

Junior Edition -K12 - This periodical database uses a student friendly interface to provide students in junior high and middle school with access to magazines, newspapers and reference books.

Junior Edition - Provides access to the same junior high and middle school collection described above. Users can search the database in many different ways including keyword, subject, date, and periodical title.

GEMS Newspapers -  Access to a national and international newspapers.

 Biography Database-This database from Wilson Web allows you to search for biographical information about many people.  The reading level
 of this information makes it more appropriate for upper level elementary and middle school students but younger students could use it with  assistance.



World Book Online - provides access to the frequently updated online World Book encyclopedia enhanced by links to related information on the Internet. World Book Online is now available to our GEMS students and teachers from home as well as within GEMS!
