When you enter the lobby of this academy you can visit: the library, the gallery of achievement, and achievement TV.  The achievement gallery offers a  profile, biography and interview of contemporary people in: sports, the arts, business, science and public service.  The library has a great section called Books That Have Changed Lives where you can read about books that had a strong influence people who have made a difference.

When you go to this site, click on Kids!  You will find lots of interesting activities.  If you like I Spy games you'll love this site.  You can play I Spy AND create your own I Spy!  Serious writers will also finds lots to do at this site! The Writing with Writers page offers many ideas for great writing, all from real writers who want to help You become a better writer!   There's lots more to explore at Scholastic.  You'll have some fun at this site!

This is the best site I found for complete introduction to chess as well as information to entice the experienced player. Graphics work well and it loads quickly.  The puzzles are great and the annotated games are THE BEST because you can make the move and take all the time you need to think about the move and study the board.  If you spend some time at this site your game will improve.  No doubt.  Also you have to check out who designed this Junior Thinkquest site!  Very interesting!

Players and coaches from the San Jose Sharks are also featured.   Readable format and pages load quickly. Excellent site full of great information about the fastest game on earth!

Another wonderful blend of real science with real life! Learn about frames and materials, speed, human power, braking and steering, aerodynamics and more.  Text is written by athletes and scientists.  Extremely interesting analysis of the sport of cycling.

What a great way to learn about nineteenth century art.  Snappy writing brings the user through the Case of Grandpa's painting.
