In
an effort to improve regular attendance at GEMS, an attendance team has
been convened. Our focus is to effectively communicate to parents the
importance regarding student’s attendance. We believe the
responsibility for assuring regular attendance rests cooperatively with
students, parents and school. The following procedures for
communication have been established:
- After
five (5) days of absences, the attendance team will mail out a letter.
- At
ten (10) days, a letter may be sent to the family. A meeting may be
requested to meet with parents, and their student to develop a plan of
action.
- At fifteen
(15) days, a letter may be sent to the family requesting a meeting with
outside agencies.
Parent

writing in advance of a planned student absence.
- Notify the
school office via phone calls of an unplanned absence.
- Submit a written excuse for each absence.
